Malaccan Chicken Rice Ball has been popularly available at places of tourist attraction such as Jonker’s Street. But the locals would prefer to eat theirs at the suburbs like at Batu Berendam.

After a brief checking, we found this shop at Batu Berendam “Huang Chang Hainanese Chicken Rice”.

The 30 number of rice balls (for 4 people) were unique but not as tasty as for the usual oily & grainy chicken rice.

The poached chicken was found not so nicely chopped & presented.

The ready hand made chicken rice balls in a rice cooker & the chili sauce is dull with hardly any character in it.
There other thing about Melaka Chicken Rice, they don’t serve with soup and sells no other type of meat. It was a bit boring just to eat the balls & uninteresting blanched chicken meat.
Maybe I will stick to non Malaccan Chicken Rice unless someone can prove me wrong. Frankly speaking I would prefer to eat those in Kuala Lumpur.

Rampai Business Park is a new commercial development at Setapak, Kuala Lumpur and RBP is sprouting with many eating outlets with all kind of Malaysian cuisine. I brought two of my sons for a lunch at Rawang Steamfish Restaurant. Actually the shop looks more of a coffee shop rather than a restaurant.

A spicy steam pork ribs (RM9.00) with lot of chopped ginger and chili padi. We like it.

Steam Tilapia Fish just as it is done in Rawang by the popular Ah Lan Jia. Though not 100% exactly similar as Ah Lan Jia’s but it was as good and delicious. This dish cost us RM18.00, size wise medium.

Fresh Tofu (RM5.00) with dried small shrimps topping & soy sauce.

RM7.00 Egg omelet can never be boring as far as I am concerned.

The damage resulted from this visit as shown above. Overall this place is worth coming back for a simple Tai Chow and I am glad that Rampai Business Park has become another food paradise for Setapak region.

It was a day of porridge. In the morning at home my mum served fish porridge for breakfast. And for lunch I went for Teo Chew Porridge at Kota Damansara.

A stew taufu (beancurd) RM3.00 - thick enough to slice into two piece it was delicious indeed.

Stew egg RM1.80 and white porridge or plain porridge RM1.20

Braised Pork RM7.00

Eating porridge is no longer a cheap concern. In the olden days the Chinese coolie could only afford to eat porridge during their lunch break. They would be squatting on wooden bench in front of the seller's stall and enjoying their lunch.
Today such simple lunch could be found in Restoran Pakka but the price is not cheap because the rental would be probably RM8,000.00 per month.

But I like Pakka Teo Chew Porridge, the place is new, clean and the food is delicious.I will come back again.

As the sun sets, we set to west to Petaling Jaya in 2 cars travelling on the DUKE expressway for a treat by our good old neighbour the Ungs.
We tailed our neighbour to Taman Mayang Jaya at this shop and the name “Cheow Sang” was pretty familiar. We have been to Cheow Sang in SS2 but not Taman Mayang Jaya and apparently it’s another of the family’s outlets in Klang Valley. I heard since their old master or father kicked the bucket, the siblings went operating themselves at various corners of Klang Valley.
The braised fish head is one of Cheow Sang signature dishes, it is spicy and delicious.
Deep fried garopa was fabulous, crispy on the outside and sweetly fresh in the inside. We had two of this marvelous food.

Braised pork knuckles were delicious I think Zuyi had a big share of it. Sang Kut Bak Kut Teh which normally requires 45 minutes to cook and I guess Ung has made the prior arrangement for this dish. I enjoyed the soup very much.
Tau Pok (braised Dry Tau Foo) and Steamed egg was for the kids. They just love this egg.

We simply love the lady fingers that we ordered for another round. The stir fried lettuce was another green to balance up the meal.

I love Indian sweets. In my university days, my father would drive all the way to Jai Hind in Masjid India to buy my favourite Indian sweetmeat, pal kova (no relation to pavlova), to make up for chucking me in a hostel run by a tyrant Master for four years. I’d nibble on the precious confection slowly, relishing its milky goodness.

sweetmeat

Indian sweetmeats are a great way to end a meal, as the sweetness of the dessert acts as a foil for a spicy Indian meal. Then again, the confections aren’t exactly desserts as they can be eaten at any time and anywhere.

Halva

Every year, Brickfields comes alive during the weeks prior to Deepavali. Huge makeshift tents are put up in the carpark outside KL Sentral which house gaily decorated stalls selling sarees, colourful jewellery and home decoration items brought in from India.

Punjabi laddu

Pretty Pui and I love visiting the stalls, drinking in the atmosphere while looking for a bargain. Over the years, I have accumulated several pretty sarees for which I have yet to find an occasion to wear. The temptation to buy is just too great as the array of products is amazing!

Variety of sweetmeats

This year, we noticed an increase in the number of stalls selling Indian confection, each one proudly proclaiming that they were the specialists in Punjabi sweets. The selection is more varied as compared to the daily fare found in Indian restaurants.

gulab jamun

I am usually invariably drawn to the gulab jamun. Even though it resembles the chinese “tong yuen”, the similarity ends there. The gulab jamun is made with milk, cream and ghee, and then rolled into balls and fried. The fried balls are then transferred to a bowl of syrup. Sounds sinful? It is! But that makes it all the more pleasurable, doesn’t it?

Laddu

Other confections available include laddu, halva and athirasam. I am told that in India, the selection is even greater. So if anyone’s going to India, do grab me a boxful of these babies, will ya?

nuts, muruku, etc.

Stalls selling muruku, omapudi and a variety of nuts also abound.

Athirasam

I do love the festive season, don’t you?

nuts, muruku, etc.

There are many beautiful legends about the moon in China. The most popular one tells how a goddess named Chang'er ascended to the moon.

A long, long time ago, a terrible drought plagued the earth. Ten suns burned fiercely in the sky like smoldering volcanoes. The trees and grass were scorched. The land was cracked and parched, and rivers were dried. Many people died of hunger and thirst.

The King of Heaven sent Hou Yi down to the earth to help. When Hou Yi arrived, he took out his red bow and white arrows and shot down nine suns one after another. The weather immediately turned cooler. Heavy rains filled the rivers with fresh water and the grass and trees turned green. Life was restored and humanity was saved.

One day, a charming young woman Chang'er made her way home from a stream, holding a bamboo container. A young man came forward, asking for a drink. When she saw the red bow and white arrows hanging round his belt, Chang'er realized that he was their savior, Hou Yi. Inviting him to drink, Chang'er plucked a beautiful flower and gave it to him as a token of respect. Hou Yi, in turn, selected a beautiful silver fox fur as his gift for her. This meeting kindled the spark of their love. And soon after that, they got married.

A mortal's life is limited, of course. So in order to enjoy his happy life with Chang'er forever, Hou Yi decided to look for an elixir of life. He went to the Kunlun Mountains where the Western Queen Mother lived.

Out of respect for the good deeds he had done, the Western Queen Mother rewarded Hou Yi with the elixir, a fine powder made from kernels of fruit which grew on the tree of eternity. At the same time, she told him that if he and his wife shared the elixir, they would both enjoy eternal life; but if only one of them took it, that one would ascend to Heaven and become immortal.

Hou Yi returned home and told his wife all that had happened and they decided to drink the elixir together on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month when the moon was full and bright.

A wicked and merciless man named Feng Meng overheard their plan. He wished Hou Yi an early death so that he could drink the elixir himself and become immortal. His opportunity finally arrived. One day, when the full moon is rising, Hou Yi was on his way home from hunting. Feng Meng killed him. The murderer then ran to Hou Yi's home and forced Chang'er to give him the elixir. Without hesitating, Chang'er picked up the elixir and drunk it all.

Overcome with grief, Chang'er rushed to her dead husband's side, weeping bitterly. Soon the elixir began to have its effect and Chang'er felt herself being lifted towards Heaven.

Chang'er decided to live on the moon because it was the nearest to the earth. There she lived a simple and contented life. Even though she was in Heaven, her heart remained in the world of mortals. Never did she forget the deep love she had for Hou Yi and the love she felt for the people who had shared their sadness and happiness.

It is said that Chang'er transformed herself into brilliant moonlight and descended to earth to offer good fortune. Thus, couples swear their mutual love under the full moon while separated lovers pray for reunion under the full moon.

Another legend explained the role of the Old Man on the Moon, the Divine Match-maker. The Chinese believed that marriages were made in Heaven but prepared on the moon. The Old Man on the Moon tied the feet of young men and women with red cords for marriages. Thus a maiden made offerings and prayed to him during the Mid-Autumn Festival, hoping that some day she would ride in the red bridal sedan chair.

终于到肯德基去吃他家的早餐了

反而他们那些在厨房里工作的不知道
因为我们在柜台下了定单后
厨房里的却跑了出来看广告板确定我们要的是什么...
Finally my turn to try out the breakfast @ KFC
But we were very disappointed
